上堂。言之者失其真。離名字相。知之者返其愚。離心緣相。有之者乖其性。離影像相。無之者傷其軀。離寂滅相。恁麼說話。大似泥中洗土塊。衲僧家。畢竟如何。體悉還會麼。和竿一掣隨釣上。水面茫茫散月明。

Ascending the hall: "One who speaks of it loses its reality—free from the characteristics of names and words. One who knows it returns to their folly—free from the characteristics of mental conditioning. One who has it goes contrary to its nature—free from the characteristics of reflected images. One who lacks it harms their own person—free from the characteristics of quiescent extinction. Speaking like this is much like washing a clod of earth in the mud. For those of the patch-robed monk family, what is it ultimately? Have you thoroughly comprehended and understood? With one tug along with the rod, it rises following the hook; upon the vast surface of the water, the bright moon scatters."
