送監主上堂。泥泥水水一年農。收拾將來碓下舂。炊軟香分千鉢飯。肚皮參飽放頹慵。且道。參飽底是禪是飯。又作麼生。說箇放頹慵底道理。豈不見藥山道。跛跛挈挈。百醜千拙。且恁麼過時。畢竟承誰恩力。四方八面連架打。普應初無顆粒遺。

Ascending the hall to see off the temple supervisor: "Muddy and watery, a year of farming; gathered up and brought beneath the pestle to pound. Cooked soft, the fragrance is shared in a thousand bowls of rice; with bellies full from practice, letting go into lazy ease. Tell me: is that which is fully absorbed through practice Chan, or is it rice? And how do you speak of the principle of letting go into lazy ease? Have you not seen Yaoshan say: 'Limping and hobbling, a hundred uglinesses and a thousand clumsinesses, just passing the time like this'? Ultimately, by whose grace and power is this? The flails strike together from all four directions and eight sides; universal response from the first has never left behind a single grain."
