上堂九月又重陽。菊華依舊黃。淵明是醉不是酒。蕩蕩游心於大方。只如會得底。也是箇時節。不會底也是箇時節。且道。於其間作麼生辨白。還會麼。冷地看他人富貴。等閑不奈幞頭何。

Ascending the hall: "In the ninth month comes Double Ninth again; chrysanthemum flowers are yellow as before. Yuanming was drunk, but not on wine; vast and unbound, he roamed his mind in the great square. Just as for one who understands, it is this season; so too for one who does not understand, it is also this season. Tell me, in between these, how do you discern and clarify? Do you understand? Coldly looking upon another's wealth and honor, casually helpless against the scholar's cap."
