示眾舉雲蓋問石霜。萬戶俱開即不問。萬戶俱閉時如何。霜云。堂中事作麼生。蓋無語。後半年下語云。無人接得渠。霜云。道即太殺道。只道得八成。蓋云。和尚作麼生。霜云。無人識得渠。師云。無人接得渠。貴逼馬相如。果來橋上也。記得柱頭書。無人識得渠。碁局醉樵夫。回頭斧柯爛。大海一成枯。

Instructing the assembly, he cited: "Yungai asked Shishuang, 'When ten thousand doors are all open, I do not ask; what about when ten thousand doors are all closed?' Shuang said, 'What is the affair in the hall like?' Gai had no words. Half a year later, he gave the turning word: 'No one can receive him.' Shuang said, 'You spoke quite a lot, but you only spoke eighty percent.' Gai said, 'What would the Venerable say?' Shuang said, 'No one can recognize him.'" The Master said, "'No one can receive him'—wealth pressed upon Sima Xiangru; indeed, upon the bridge, he remembered the writing on the pillar. 'No one can recognize him'—the woodcutter drunk over the chessboard; turning his head, the axe handle has rotted, and the great ocean has once turned dry."
