示眾舉。教中道。我於然燈佛所。實無有法可得。然燈佛即為我授記。師云。是即是也。猶較一線在。復云。釋迦自是釋迦。然燈莫要添些。不用燒錢引鬼。何須句賊破家。爾那裏針劄不入。我這裏石上栽華。

Instructing the assembly, he cited: "In the teaching it says: 'When I was with Dīpaṃkara Buddha, in reality there was no Dharma attained. Dīpaṃkara Buddha then gave me the prediction.'" The Master said, "It is indeed so, yet there is still a thin line of discrepancy." He added, "Śākya is naturally Śākya; Dīpaṃkara need not add anything. No need to burn paper money to attract ghosts; why summon thieves to wreck the house? Where a needle cannot prick on your side, I plant flowers on the stone here."
