天之空兮星斗寒。海之縮兮潮波還。推月之蟾止三脚。
養霧之豹窺一斑。拈出門門問相識。
知音點頭應不慳。

The sky's emptiness—stars and dipper cold;
The sea's receding—tide waves return.
The toad pushing the moon has only three legs;
The leopard nursing mist peeks through a single spot.
Held up at gate after gate to ask acquaintances,
An intimate friend nods—surely not grudging.
