兀然而然。湛存象先。曹溪昧橫畫。少室還默傳。
體不匿而了了。用不勤而綿綿。得麟角兮石頭足。
捋虎須兮林際顛。壁上如今謾撑起。
知音自然聞說禪。

Immovably so,
Clear and enduring before forms.
Caoxi was blind to the horizontal stroke;
Shaoshi still transmitted in silence.
Its essence is not hidden, but distinct;
Its function is not laboured, but ceaseless.
Attaining the unicorn's horn, Shitou had enough;
Plucking the tiger's whiskers, Linji went mad.
Now vainly propped up on the wall,
One who knows the sound naturally hears him expound Chan.
