梨杖橫膝。衲衣擁肩。默為佛事。情忘世緣。家風空掃四壁。
活計冷坐三椽。見聞聲色外相討。
破曉青山啼杜鵑。

A pear-wood staff rests across his knees;
A patched robe wraps over his shoulders.
Silently performing buddha affairs;
Forgetting sentiments of worldly conditions.
The family style: sweeping clean the four bare walls;
His livelihood: sitting cold beneath three rafters.
Seeking outside seeing, hearing, sound, and form,
At daybreak in the blue mountains, the cuckoo cries.
