畫者不相出脫。轉見面皮醜惡。蜂採百華春不飢。
兔飲長河夜不渴。無事而禪。待緣而作。
一機一警誰與知。百發百中絃銜筈。

The painter did not extricate him;
All the more one sees his facial skin is ugly and vile.
Bees gather from a hundred flowers, not hungry in spring;
The hare drinks from the long river, not thirsty at night.
Free of affairs, yet practicing Chan;
Awaiting conditions, yet acting.
With one dynamic and one alert, who knows it?
Hitting the mark every time, the string holds the arrow-nock.
