9.70

山覆雪兮一顛白。水深秋兮兩眼青。卦爻初作象。
皮骨自成形。混沌已前之樸。陰陽未判之靈。
道傳不出世佛。義備勿開題經。應兮雲月用也雷霆。
有守而涵海鎮嶽。無羈而斷梗流萍。

The mountain is covered in snow—his whole crown is white; / The water is deep in autumn—both eyes are clear and cool. / The hexagram lines first formed images; / Skin and bones naturally formed a shape. / The uncarved simplicity prior to Hundun; / The spiritual potency before Yin and Yang divided. / The Way was transmitted by the Buddha who does not emerge in the world; / The meaning is fully prepared in the sūtra whose title is not opened. / Responsive, like clouds and moon; functioning, like thunder and lightning. / Having steadfastness, he embraces the sea and stabilizes the peaks; / Having no tether, he drifts like a severed reed and floating duckweed.
