虛空闊無工夫挂劍。滄海深有伎倆挑燈。
抖擻頭陀備。玲瓏道者稜。入閩借問何如箇能。

This sort of monk, / with a face repulsive to see! / Describe him, yet he does not resemble it; / conceal him, yet when was he ever hidden? / Empty space is broad, with no time to hang a sword; / the vast ocean is deep, yet with skill to trim a lamp. / Fully equipped as an ascetic dhūta; / sharp and distinct as a person of the Way. / Entering Min, ask: what sort of capability is this?
