1.88

上堂。雨打虛空乾剝剝。日明大地黑漫漫。箇中開得金剛眼。生死何甞有異端。須彌山大海水。衲僧頂上波濤起。

Ascending the hall, [the Master said]: "Rain strikes empty space: bone-dry. / The sun illumines the great earth: pitch-black. / If within this one opens the vajra eye, / When was there ever a distinction between life and death? / Mount Sumeru and the waters of the great ocean: / Billows arise atop the patch-robed monk's crown!"
