1.91

重午。上堂。天蒼蒼地皇皇。還知麼。鍾馗元是鬼。咄。赤口併消亡。且道。如何衲僧八面無門戶。今古寥寥白晝長。

On the Double Fifth, ascending the hall, [the Master said]: "Heaven is vast and blue, earth is yellow and wide. Do you still understand? Zhong Kui was originally a ghost! Bah! May red-tongued calumny all perish! But tell me, how is it that for a patch-robed monk, the eight directions have no doors or gateways? Vast and desolate through past and present, the broad daylight is long."
