2.44

結夏小參。平地起骨堆。虛空剜窟籠。驀透兩重關。拈却黑漆桶。打圓相云。圓覺伽藍。十方聚會。咄。淨慈門下。切忌𡱰沸。其或尚留觀聽。癩馬繫樁。所謂搖扇取風涼。喫飯伸脚睡。更有甚事。雖然照顧蚊虫虱蚤住。向下文長。早先珍重。正當恁麼。須知有不入者保社底。又且如何。花陰輕舞蝶。山影靜穿雲。

Minor convocation for entering the summer retreat:
“A mound of bones rises on level ground; a cavern is gouged out of empty space. Breaking abruptly through both checkpoints, cast away the black lacquer bucket!”
Drawing a circle, he said: “In the saṅghārāma of Perfect Enlightenment, assemblies gather from the ten directions. Bah! Under the gate of Jingci, bubbling babble is strictly forbidden. If you still linger in seeing and hearing, it is like tying a mangy horse to a hitching post—the so-called waving a fan to catch cool air, or eating rice, stretching out one's legs, and sleeping. What else is there? Even so, beware of mosquitoes, lice, and fleas residing there! What follows below is long; take care beforehand. Just at such a moment, you must know that there are those who do not enter this community. And furthermore, how is it?
Butterflies flutter lightly in the shade of flowers;
The mountain’s shadow silently pierces the clouds.”
