師云。本錄無典座。又問供養主。甚麼處去來。主云。州中糶黃米去來。濟云。糶得盡麼。主云。糶得盡。濟亦以拄杖一畫云。糶得這箇盡麼。主便禮拜。濟云。猶較些子。萬松道。有何不可。院主被棒。賞不避仇讐。供養主蒙恩。誅不擇骨肉。天童據盡令而行。要見全機大用。頌云。

The manager said: 'I went to sell yellow millet in the prefecture and have returned.' Linji said: 'Did you sell it completely?' The manager said: 'I sold it completely.' Linji also drew a line with his staff and said: 'Can you sell this completely?' The manager then made a prostration. Linji said: 'That is still somewhat better.' Wansong says: What is wrong with that? When the temple director was beaten, reward did not avoid an enemy; when the manager of offerings received favor, execution did not choose among kin. Tiantong acts in accordance with the ultimate imperative, wishing to see the full dynamic and great functioning. The verse says:
