Answer: What is established is determinate and cannot be altered; whether following the ultimate or following the conventional, each has its principle. The Yogācārabhūmiśāstra says: 'First, there is worldly consensus reality; second, there is logically proven reality. Worldly consensus reality means that all people in the world, regarding various matters, following conventional designations and worldly custom, share the same nature seen through their discerning intellect: namely, that earth is only earth and not fire, etc., up to suffering is only suffering and not pleasure, etc., and pleasure is only pleasure and not suffering, etc. To put it succinctly, this is just thus and not otherwise, this is just so and not not so; it is the objective matter engaged by determinate resolute belief. Transmitted successively from time immemorial throughout the world, it is mutually established through the conceptual distinctions of their own ideations, not something apprehended only after deliberating, measuring, and examining. This is called worldly consensus reality. Logically proven reality means the matters known and engaged by determinate wisdom that relies upon direct perception, inference, and even thorough examination and excellent deliberation, which are the meanings established and designated through validating reason. This is called logically proven reality.'
