Huiheng resided at Yanshou in Wulin and was styled Qingzhao. He relied on Lingzhi to study the Vinaya and concentrated on cultivating Pure Land practice for nearly sixty years. Whenever he received guests and friends, he invariably encouraged them to recollect the Buddha. He built a jeweled pavilion and erected statues of the Three Holy Ones, which were praised as most extraordinary. The high official Jiang Ziren always respected the master; suddenly he dreamed that a jeweled throne descended from the sky, and someone said: "Vinaya Master Qingzhao should ascend this throne." His society companion Layman Sun reported that the master, momentarily indisposed, immediately formed a mudrā at home and passed away. The master went to burn incense, and returning, told his disciples: "Lord Sun has departed; I too should go." Thereupon he requested the assembly to recollect the Buddha, and said: / "Chanting Amitābha with every mouth, / Contemplating the white curl from thought to thought; / Upholding this non-retrogressing mind, / One is definitely born in the Land of Peace and Nurture." / He then sat upright and passed away.
