妙生。會稽人。習律學日踐淨土之業。與大通本禪師居潮山象塢。共明此道。一夕會門人諷彌陀經。就榻端坐。取臨終香焚之合掌迎顧嗒然而化。

Miaosheng was a native of Kuaiji. He studied the Vinaya and daily practiced the Pure Land work. Together with Chan Master Ben Datong, he dwelt at Xiangwu on Mount Chao, clarifying this path together. One evening, gathering his disciples to chant the Amitābha Sūtra, he sat upright on his couch, took the incense for the end of life, burned it, joined his palms, looked forward, and serenely passed away.
