如湛。試法華得度。遍歷教席。住烏鎮塔院。日誦蓮經二部。佛號二萬聲。一夕念佛端坐而化。所著教義號假名集。

Ruzhan was ordained after examination on the Lotus Sūtra. He traveled widely among doctrinal seats, and resided at the Pagoda Cloister in Wuzhen. Daily he recited two sets of the Lotus Sūtra and chanted twenty thousand invocations of the Buddha's name. One evening, reciting the Buddha's name, he sat upright and passed away. The doctrinal work he authored was titled *Jiaming ji* (Collection of Provisional Names).
