27.78

有基。學於寶雲。住太平興國寺。一日示疾。為弟子廣談圓旨。眾忽見西方現光空中奏樂。師曰。阿彌陀佛與二大士親至於此。即右脇西向而化。門人夢阿彌陀佛授記為超壯如來。或夢師坐青蓮華執如意對佛說法者。法智歎曰。臥病談玄臨終見佛。是可敬也。

Youji studied under Baoyun and lived at Taiping Xingguo Monastery. One day he displayed illness and expounded extensively on the perfect doctrine for his disciples. The assembly suddenly saw light appear from the west and heard music playing in the sky. The Master said, "Amitābha Buddha and the two Mahāsattvas have personally arrived here!" He then rested on his right side facing west and passed away. His disciples dreamt that Amitābha Buddha bestowed on him the prophecy of becoming the Tathāgata Transcendent Strength, and others dreamt that the Master was seated upon a blue lotus holding a ruyi scepter, preaching the Dharma before the Buddha. Fazhi sighed in admiration and said, "Expounding the arcane while bedridden with illness, and beholding the Buddha at the threshold of death—this is truly venerable!"
