27.80

慧才號廣慈。晚居雷峯塔。課佛不輟。忽夢入一處若宮室者。人告之曰。淨土中品是汝所生。復見一殿勝麗殊絕。人曰。上品之生。以待淨慈本禪師也。才臨終果書偈。面西趺坐而化。

Huicai, styled Guangci, resided at the Leifeng Pagoda in his later years, reciting the Buddha's name without ceasing. He suddenly dreamt that he entered a place that seemed like a palace. Someone told him, "The middle grade of the Pure Land is where you will be born." He then saw another hall of matchless splendor. The person said, "The superior grade of birth is reserved for Chan Master Ben of Jingci." When Cai reached the end of his life, he indeed wrote a gāthā, sat cross-legged facing west, and passed away.
