元淨號辯才。住上竺謝去居南山龍井。焚指供佛。左三右二。專修淨土觀。臨終告其友道潛曰。吾西方業成。後七日去矣。至期右脇吉祥而逝。

Yuanjing, styled Biancai, lived at Upper Tianzhu, but relinquished his duties to dwell at Longjing on the Southern Mountain. He burned his fingers as an offering to the Buddha—three on the left and two on the right—and devoted himself exclusively to Pure Land contemplation. When his end drew near, he told his friend Daoqian, "My karma for the Western [Land] is accomplished; I shall depart in seven days." When the time arrived, he passed away auspiciously resting on his right side.
