27.87

有嚴。受業天台靈鷲。依神照傳教。晚居樝菴專事淨業。作懷安養故鄉詩四篇。為時所傳。居山十年。夢池中大蓮華天樂四列。乃作餞歸淨土詩。後七日加趺而化。塔上有光如月。三夕乃隱。

Youyan received ordination at Lingjiu in Tiantai, and relied on Shenzhao to transmit the teachings. In his later years, he resided at Zha'an and devoted himself exclusively to pure karma, composing four poems on *Longing for the Native Village of Peace and Sustenance*, which were widely circulated at the time. After living in the mountains for ten years, he dreamt of a great lotus in a pond, with heavenly music arranged in the four quarters. He then composed the poem *Farewell upon Returning to the Pure Land*. Seven days later, he sat cross-legged and passed away. Above his stupa was a light like the moon, which disappeared only after three nights.
