擇瑛。桐江人。依經論辨專雜二修。以示往生之易。又述淨土修證義二卷行於世。今人稱阿彌陀佛真金色一偈。即師所撰也。一夕有疾。面西凭几念佛而化。

Zeying was a native of Tongjiang. Relying on sūtras and treatises, he distinguished between exclusive and mixed practices to show the ease of attaining rebirth. He also wrote the *Meaning of Pure Land Practice and Realization* in two fascicles, which circulated in the world. The gāthā recited by people today beginning with 'Amitābha Buddha's true golden color' was composed by this Master. One evening he fell ill, leaned against an armrest facing west, recited the Buddha's name, and passed away.
