Wei Shizi, a man of Liang Commandery during the Song dynasty, was vigorous in serving the Buddha, but his wife alone did not believe. His daughter died of illness, and seven days later she regained consciousness. She immediately ascended a high seat and chanted the Sūtra of Immeasurable Life. Stepping down, she addressed her father: 'When I departed, I went directly to the Land of Immeasurable Life. In the pond, there are already large lotus blossoms for me, father, and elder brother, in which we shall be born. Only mother alone has none. Unable to bear this sorrow, I returned to report this.' Having spoken, she expired once more. From then on, the mother also believed in the teachings of the Dharma (from Signs from the Unseen Realm).
