Ge Jizhi of Jurong was a grandson of Zhichuan [Ge Hong], and his family had thus served immortals for generations. His wife, Lady Ji, kept sincere faith in the Buddha's Dharma, never slacking day or night. While weaving, she saw the clouds and sun clear brightly. Dropping her shuttle and looking up, she saw the true form of the Western Tathāgata, with banners and canopies illuminating the sky. In her heart, she alone rejoiced, saying: 'The sūtras speak of the Buddha of Immeasurable Life; now I have been able to behold Him!' She immediately bowed her head to the ground in reverence. When she drew Jizhi to gaze together, half His body was still visible, and shortly thereafter it faded away. Afterwards, the husband and wife recited the Buddha's name and passed away one after the other (from Signs from the Unseen Realm).
