釋文慧。居嘉禾青龍。詩律高古與北峯印公為友。北峯亦好吟。慧奪筆責之曰。吾兄大法柱石。何必為此。北峯感之遂折節為學。卒為聞人。慧專志淨業。至老益厲。臨終聞空聲。云中品中生。

Monk Wenhui lived at Qinglong in Jiahe. His poetic meter was lofty and archaic, and he was friends with Master Yin of Beifeng. Beifeng was also fond of composing verse; Hui seized his brush and rebuked him: 'You, elder brother, are a pillar and cornerstone of the Great Dharma—why do you bother with this?' Beifeng was moved by this, humbled himself to engage in learning, and ultimately became a renowned figure. Hui dedicated his aim to the pure karma, becoming even more rigorous in his old age. Nearing his end, he heard a voice in the empty sky say: 'Rebirth of the middle grade of the middle level.'
