In winter, the eleventh month, fire from heaven struck the Bailiang Terrace. The diagrams, registers, and twelve items of the True Form all flew up into the great void. The Emperor had received the teachings himself but did not cultivate supreme virtue, exhausting the myriad common people and launching distant military campaigns against the barbarians. Because he did not follow the Queen Mother's admonitions, Heaven manifested this warning (from the *Inner Tradition*).
