述曰。退之鄙佛為夷。專責梁武事佛及禍。以警當年之君上。而退之終罹斥逐之禍。何其速哉。梁武住世應真示現君主。誌公傅大士共相施化。豈世儒所能測識哉。
The Narrator says: Tuizhi despised the Buddha as a barbarian, and exclusively blamed Emperor Wu of Liang's service of the Buddha for bringing misfortune, so as to warn the ruler of his day; yet Tuizhi himself ended up suffering the disaster of banishment—how swift it was! Emperor Wu of Liang was an arhat living in the world, manifesting as a sovereign; Zhi Gong and Fu Dashi joined together with him to spread transformation. How could worldly Confucians fathom and discern this?
