Pingshan said: "The nature has neither motion nor stillness, neither waning nor waxing. The Śramaṇa have a saying: 'Practitioners of the Way do not recognize the real, merely because they have always recognized the conscious spirit.' How could they take the spirit and soul to be the nature? Not seeing that the nature is empty is called deluded perception; once one sees that the nature is empty, how could it be deluded perception? When seeing the seeing, the seeing is still not seeing—how is this not distinct? I fear the lack of distinction and unclarity actually lies in Master Zhu's own words!"
