晦庵曰。切病近世學者不知聖門實學之根本次第。而溺於佛老之說。妄意天地萬物人倫日用之外。別有一物空虛之妙不可測度。其心懸懸然。徼倖一見此物以為極致。未甞不墮於此者。

Huian said: "I am deeply distressed that contemporary scholars do not know the roots and sequence of the sage's school of true learning, and instead drown in the teachings of the Buddha and Laozi, wildly presuming that outside Heaven and Earth, the myriad things, and the daily human relations, there is another wondrous thing of emptiness that cannot be fathomed. Their minds hang in suspense, hoping by fluke to catch a glimpse of this thing and taking it as the ultimate; they never fail to fall into this."
