In the autumn, in the eighth month, King Ma Yin of Chu first founded his state. He established palaces and appointed the hundred officials, all like the Son of Heaven, or slightly altered: his Hanlin Academicians were called Academicians of the Literary Garden; the Drafters of Edicts were called Directors of Rescript Composition; the Bureau of Military Affairs was called the Left and Right Secretarial Offices; "Your Majesty" was addressed as "Your Highness"; and an "imperial command" was called an "instruction."
