甲寅改元延祐元年詔科場。以經義取士。庶得真儒之用。而治道可興也。勅各省專意訪求遺逸。苟得其人。先以名聞。後致之。

In the jiayin year, the era was changed to the first year of Yanyou [1314]. An edict ordered that the civil service examinations select scholars based on the meaning of the classics, so that true Confucians might be employed and the way of good governance might flourish. An imperial decree instructed all provinces to devote their attention to seeking out recluses and scholars left out of office: if suitable persons were found, their names should first be reported, and then they should be summoned.
