七月。陳友諒圍洪都。太祖帥諸將討之。大戰於鄱陽湖。友諒敗死　是戰也。友諒驍將奮犯太祖之舟。計無所出。韓成服上冠袍投水死　劉基大呼。難星過可更舟。太祖更之未半餉。舊舟為敵砲擊碎矣　又張鐵冠笑賀曰。友諒死矣。降卒來言。友諒為流矢貫睛及頭而死。

In the seventh month, Chen Youliang besieged Hongdu. Taizu led his generals to chastise him, engaging in a great battle at Lake Poyang. Youliang was defeated and killed. During this battle, Youliang's fierce generals aggressively assaulted Taizu's boat. Having run out of plans, Han Cheng donned the sovereign's cap and robe and drowned himself in the water. Liu Ji shouted loudly: "The star of calamity has passed; the boat may be changed!" Taizu changed boats, and not even half a moment later, the old boat was shattered by enemy artillery. Moreover, Zhang Tieguan laughed and offered congratulations, saying: "Youliang is dead!" Surrendered soldiers came and reported that Youliang had died from stray arrows piercing his eye and head.
