The first year of Chenghua, yiyou, first month: Yu Qian's son Yu Mian submitted a memorial pleading for his father's innocence. The Emperor pitied him, posthumously restored his former rank, and made sacrifices at his tomb. The sky rained black millet, and the earth quaked with a loud noise. A comet appeared in the northwest, over three zhang long. A bachelor of the Hanlin Academy, finding life in the academy lonely, asked for leave and composed a poem, saying: / "The winding verandas are quiet, locking in the fasting quarters; / The daylight is all consumed beyond the diary of illness. / Eating the court's grain in vain without a particle of service, / Beneath the pavilion in green shade, I read medical books."
