In the ninth month of the third year of the Yuanjia reign era, taking leave of Xie to go to the capital, he left ten thousand cash worth of goods with Xie, asking him to organize a vegetarian feast, and thereupon parted and departed. Traveling as far as Lake Chishan, he fell ill with dysentery and died. Xie then organized the vegetarian feast for him, collected the corpse, and buried it back at Mount Fuzhou in Jianye. In the fourth year, there was a man of Wuxing named Shao Xin, who was exceedingly devoted to the Dharma. Stricken with a cold-damage illness, no one dared look after him, so he wept sorrowfully and mindfulness of Avalokiteśvara. Suddenly he saw a monk arrive, who said he was a disciple of Beidu. He said to him, "Do not worry; my master will soon come to see you." Shao Xin replied, "Master Beidu is already dead; how could he possibly come?" The monk said, "What difficulty is there in his coming?" He then took about a boxful of powdered medicine from the end of his sash and gave it to him to take, and the illness was immediately cured.
