Shi Huiqing was a native of Guangling. He left household life and stayed at the temple on Mount Lu. He was learned in both the sūtras and vinaya, pure and upright in his preceptual conduct. He recited the Lotus, the Daśabhūmika, the Viśeṣacintā, and the Vimalakīrti. Whenever he chanted at night, the sound of snapping fingers and praise was always heard in the darkness. Once at Xiaolei he encountered wind and waves, and the boat was about to capsize. Huiqing merely recited sūtras without cease, and felt the boat amid the waves as if someone were pulling it, arriving at the shore in an instant. Thereupon he urged himself on with even greater diligence. He died toward the end of the Yuanjia reign period of the Song, at the age of sixty-two.
