From his youth onward, Bhadra maintained a vegetarian diet throughout his life and constantly held an incense burner in his hands without interruption. Whenever he finished eating, he would share his food with flying birds, which would gather on his hands to feed. By the reign of Taizong, the courtesy and offerings shown him grew even more grand. In the first month of the fourth year of the Taishi reign, he felt unwell in body. He then bid farewell to Taizong and the ministers. On the day of his passing, he stood gazing intently and saw heavenly flowers and sacred images. He died around midday at the age of seventy-five. Taizong grieved and mourned him deeply, conferring extremely generous funerary gifts; the high ministers gathered for his funeral, and honors and lamentations were paid in full.
