Later he returned east to Gusu, where he again served exclusively as a Dharma master. The śramaṇas and practitioners of the court temples requested him to stay for about a year. He then went east to Mount Xu in Shangyu, followed by more than one hundred students. His teaching spread through the Sanwu region, and his fame sped to the imperial capital. Xie Lingyun of Chen Commandery conveyed his sincere devotion through letters of virtuous praise. Emperor Shizu of the Song dynasty, relying on his pure demeanor, decreed that he come out to the capital, where he resided at Lower Dinglin Temple. He frequently established Dharma assemblies, where virtuous assemblies gathered like clouds. He authored commentaries on the *Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra*, the *Vimalakīrtinirdeśa-sūtra*, and the *Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra*, as well as the *Profound Treatise on the Abhidharma*. He distinguished doctrinal categories in a coherent and systematic manner. He died during the Yuanhui era of the Song dynasty at the age of sixty-seven.
