Bo Yuan's younger brother Fazuo also possessed a fine reputation in his youth; he was summoned to be an Erudite (boshi) but did not accept. At the age of twenty-five he entered the religious life; penetrating deeply into Buddhist principles, he became famous throughout Guanlong. At that time Zhang Guang, Regional Inspector of Liangzhou, noted that because his elder brother refused to return to lay clothes, Fu had killed him. Guang likewise pressured Fazuo to abandon the Way, but Fazuo remained resolute and steadfast, taking death as his vow, and was ultimately slain by Guang at the age of fifty-seven. He had annotated the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra and composed the Xianzong lun (Treatise on Revealing the Core Teachings). Guang, styled Jingwu, was a man of Jiangxia; later, besieged at Wudu by Yang Nandi, he died of rage and despair.
