二年，淨隨駕歸雍京，置飜經院於大薦福寺，居之。三年，詔入內與同飜經沙門九旬坐夏。帝以昔居房部，幽厄無歸，祈念藥師，遂蒙降祉，荷茲往澤，重闡鴻猷。因命法徒更重傳譯於大佛光殿，二卷成文，曰《藥師瑠璃光佛本願功德經》。帝御法筵，手自筆受。

In the second year [706], Yijing followed the imperial entourage back to the capital Yongjing, where a Translation Bureau was established for his residence at the Great Jianfu Temple. In the third year [707], an edict summoned him to enter the palace and observe the ninety-day summer retreat together with the other translating śramaṇas. Because the Emperor had previously resided in Fang Prefecture in dark adversity with nowhere to turn, he had prayed to the Medicine Buddha and received bestowed blessings; cherishing this past grace, he sought to unfold great undertakings once more. He thus ordered the religious disciples to translate anew in the Hall of Great Buddha Light. The text was completed in two fascicles, titled the Sūtra on the Merits of the Fundamental Vows of the Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha. The Emperor presided at the Dharma banquet and personally recorded the translation with his own hand.
