In the twelfth year, following the imperial cortege into Luoyang, he again received an imperial edict to translate the Mahāvairocana Sūtra at Fuxian Temple. The complete Sanskrit text of this sūtra contained one hundred thousand verses; what Śubhakarasiṃha brought forth condensed its essentials, titled the Mahāvairocana-abhisaṃbodhi-vikurvitādhiṣṭhāna-vaipulya-sūtrendrarāja Sūtra in seven fascicles. The śramaṇa Baoyue translated the words, and Yixing received with the brush, editing and arranging the expressions and principles. The literary polish and plainness were balanced, exquisitely harmonizing with the profound intent, according above with the Buddha's intention and suiting below the faculties and conditions; among essential gates of benefit, this text was the foremost. He also translated the Subāhuparipṛcchā Sūtra in three fascicles and the Susiddhikara Sūtra in three fascicles. Both sūtras fully provided the mantra vinaya, which is the esoteric prohibitive precepts. If one has not entered the maṇḍala, one is not permitted to read or recite them casually, just as one who has not received the full precepts may not surreptitiously listen to the vinaya. The one fascicle of the Ākāśagarbha Bodhisattva Dhāraṇī Method for Seeking Memory Retention that he translated was merely a brief portion translated from the Siddham-sarvārtha-citra of the Sanskrit Vajraśekhara Sūtra.
