In the middle of the first month of the twelfth year of Bun'ei (wood-boar year [1275]), while temporarily residing at Toganoo Kōzan-ji to listen to thirty lectures on the Wujiaozhang, I borrowed the five-fascicle Transmission of the Avataṃsaka from the resident monk of that monastery, Nichibō Benshō. While collating the text, my heart was deeply inscribed with joy. After heading down to the Southern Capital, I commissioned those skilled in calligraphy to copy it. Within this transmission, this fascicle was commissioned to be copied on both front and back by Nakagawa Honjōbō Ācārya Ryōritsu at the same place.
