17.51

洪州泐潭寶峯神黨禪師。僧問。四威儀中如何辨主。師曰。正遇寶峯不脫鞋。問如何是佛法大意。師曰。虛空駕鐵船嶽頂浪滔天。

Chan Master Shendang of Baofeng on Mount Letan in Hongzhou. A monk asked, "In the four deportments, how does one discern the host?" The master said, "Just encountering Baofeng, do not take off your shoes." A monk asked, "What is the great meaning of the Buddha Dharma?" The master said, "Riding an iron boat in empty space; upon the mountain peak, waves billow to heaven."
