廣州羅山崇禪師。僧問。如何是大漢國境。師曰玉狗吠時天未曉。金雞啼後五更初。問丹霞訪居士女子不携籃時如何。師曰。也要到遮裏一轉。問如何是羅山境。師曰。布水千尋。

Chan Master Chong of Luoshan in Guangzhou. A monk asked, "What is the territory of the Great Han kingdom?" The master said, "When the jade dog barks, the dawn has not yet broken; after the golden rooster crows, it is the beginning of the fifth watch." He asked, "When Danxia visited the upāsaka and the maiden was not carrying the basket, how was it?" The master said, "She too had to make a turn here." He asked, "What is the realm of Luoshan?" The master said, "The cascading water is a thousand fathoms."
