23.16

洪州泐潭道謙禪師。僧問。如何是泐潭家風。師曰。闍梨到來幾日。問但有纖毫即是塵。不有時作麼生。師以手掩兩目。問當陽舉唱誰是聞者。師曰。老僧不患耳聾。

Chan Master Daoqian of Letan in Hongzhou. A monk asked, “What is the house style of Letan?”
The master said, “How many days have you been here, ācārya?”
[A monk] asked, “As long as there is a minute speck, it is dust. How is it when there is none?”
The master covered both eyes with his hands.
[A monk] asked, “When it is brought up directly facing the sun, who is the hearer?”
The master said, “This old monk does not suffer from deafness.”
