Chan Master Qingxiang of Jiuqu Guanyin Courtyard in Hangzhou was a native of Yuhang. His surname was Shen. His body was over seven feet tall. His eloquence surpassed the crowd, and he was widely learned with a strong memory. At that time, among the disciples of Tiantai, he was praised as outstanding. A monk asked, "In the perilous path, what serves as a ford and bridge?" The master said, "Take this as the ford and bridge." The monk said, "What is this?"
