池州仁王院處評禪師問首山。如何是佛法大意。山便喝。師禮拜。山拈棒。師曰。老和尚沒世界那。山拋下拄杖曰。明眼人難瞞。師曰。草賊大敗。

Chan Master Chuping of Renwang Monastery in Chizhou asked Shoushan, "What is the great meaning of the Buddha Dharma?"
Shoushan shouted.
The Master bowed.
Shoushan took up his stick.
The Master said, "Old Upādhyāya, is there no world left?"
Shoushan cast down his staff and said, "It is hard to fool someone with clear eyes."
The Master said, "The grass bandits suffer a great defeat."
