Chan Master Ziliang, 'Chang'er Xiang' (Long-eared Minister), of Nanshan in Hangzhou. A monk asked, "What is it like at the time of the sixth month's resting?" The Master said, "Retiring from office while staying at home." [The monk] said, "If a guest suddenly arrives, how do you receive him?" The Master said, "Chew thoroughly on the pure breeze; feast to the full on the bright moon." [The monk] said, "Does the student have a share or not?" The Master said, "There is no place to bite into." He then said, "Orioles warble in the green willows; magpies chatter on flowering branches. If you comprehend here, everywhere is radiant. There is still another principle: prevent budding shoots and block early growth; dwelling in peace, ponder danger. What kind of talk is that?"
