14.40

筠州米山崇僊禪師。上堂顧視大眾曰。山河大地被山僧撮來。搗羅為末煉蜜為丸。以淡薑湯吞下了也。何處更有一絲毫。若道是有即為謗法。諸人到這裏合作麼生話會。良久曰。參。

Chan Master Chongxian of Mishan in Yunzhou ascended the hall, looked at the assembly, and said, "The mountains, rivers, and the great earth have been gathered up by this mountain monk, pounded and sifted into powder, refined with honey into pills, and swallowed down with weak ginger soup. Where is there even the slightest hair left? If you say there is, you are slandering the Dharma. Having arrived here, how will all of you explain this?" After a long pause, he said, "Investigate!"
